Overview
The 12x24 plank format lets Carbon's white veining travel in a directional pattern across a floor, whether installed in a running bond or a herringbone layout. This size is also rated for countertop use, so a dark, dramatic surface can extend from floor to island in a single project. Breaking strength for this format exceeds 275 lbf, holding up to heavy foot traffic and everyday kitchen use. Standard grout joint width for this size is 3/16".
Design Note
A herringbone layout adds motion to Carbon's already striking veining, a combination well suited to an entryway meant to make a first impression. For a more restrained look, a straight running bond lets the dark base color read as a grounding element beneath lighter furniture and cabinetry. Pale gray or white grout provides visible contrast against Carbon's charcoal tone, while a matching dark gray grout keeps the floor reading as one continuous surface.
